Accurate scale, easy to use, awesome display!
It’s stainless steel. I wish it could be a different color. So McDonald’s. I prefer bright, cheery, happy stuff. But my options were black and stainless, so okay, fine, stainless it is.It’s a really good scale. I tested it for accuracy with weights. I got the one that holds extra weight because I want to put heavy bowls on it sometimes and fill them with flour or meat. I love that it can handle that.It is simple to use and easily toggles between metric and regular weights. It holds the weight on the screen nicely so you get time to write it down if you need to do that. It’s so easy to use that I tossed the explanation. I don’t have to re-read it.But the BEST part is the little pull-out display thingie. I LOVE THAT THING. No contortions required to check the weight. No button to lock. No nothing. I can just SEE the flippin thing. Alleluia.Oxo is generally reliable but they really knocked it out of the park here. (Would it kill them to offer one that is a less depressing color?)

Think I found the perfect food scale
I’ve had other electronic food scales and enjoyed them at the time as they were better than the mechanical scales I had used in the past. I needed to make the move to electronic for measuring coffee beans and grounds when brewing as the mechanical scales just weren’t accurate enough. But I ran into problems when using larger containers to measure in, as they blocked the view of the scale. Beyond coffee, I had started measuring recipe ingredients by weight instead of volume, and also had taken to buying larger amounts or cuts of meat, dividing them and vacuum sealing and freezing for subsequent meals. My old scale wasn’t doing the job anymore. The Oxo with its pull-out controls and display was just what I needed – and I ordered it when the last scale bit the dust. The pull-out display is perfect – now it’s perfectly practical to use a larger container when needed, and I can still hit the zero (tare) button and read the display. It reads quickly and accurately, and the display is easily readable. I also love the construction – this feels like a pro quality unit sitting in my kitchen. The only potential downside is the size: it’s larger than my last digital scale – be sure to compare the measurements to the place you plan to store the scale. It’s perhaps 1 to 2 inches larger in width and length than a lot of the other generic digital food scales. As long as you’re aware of the size and it’s not a problem, this is a fantastic product.

This scale does all the things a good scale should do. It is very easy to read – I have vision problems and I can see the numbers well. It switches to grams, kilos , ounces and pounds.The scale remains on for a good amount of time so when I have to find more of an ingredient, the scale doesn’t turn itself off so I lose the weight information.Last, I use large bowls sometimes so being able to pull out the display is extremely helpful!I highly recommend this product. OXO continues to impress.
