Extra Width & Thickness Suited Me
First and foremost, I really like this mat. I have to say up front is I didn’t get it for yoga. I do stretches on it. I do resistance band workouts on it. For the latter, I am thankful I went with the extra width.My wife — who does yoga regularly — first wrinkled her nose about the extra width. She had nothing negative to say about the extra width. She only said her mat and the mats supplied where she participates have narrower mats. I am unaware of any advantage to a narrower mat besides a studio can fit more students in a confined area and it might be easier to transport from home to studio. This comes with a carrying strap, but mine stays home anyway.My wife’s only negative comment was about its thickness. She claimed the extra thickness makes it more difficult to sustain yoga poses. I have had full replacements for both of my knees, and the extra thickness makes any kneeling barely tolerable — which in my case is actually high praise. Ironically, my wife withdrew her complaint when she demonstrated a couple of yoga poses and didn’t find the mat to be destabilizing at all.The mat comes tightly rolled, so I had to use my ankle/wrist weights the first couple of times to keep the one end from curling up, but that was temporary. It’s easy to clean and easy to store.

Game changer!
This mat is a perfect thickness, width and is super comfortable and light weight to carry back and forth to classes. The issues I had with grip/slip on a thinner mat are all gone on this mat – no slipping whatsoever. The carry strap is functional/okay. It is two large elastic circles so I am not sure how long it will last, but handy for now. The downside is finding a nice canvas carry bag it will fit in.

Size matters!!
I lovvvvveeeeee the size! Not too big, not too small, just right! I was tired of falling off my mat during yoga and stretching sessions! Not anymore. I love the designs as well. Came with the carry strap and wrapped securely in plastic. Had a very light smell that didn’t cause any concern. The only flaw that I could fine was that it stains easily. One yoga session had all my fingerprints everywhere! However, I didn’t buy it to be a beauty contest winner! Although, the design is gorgeous, so that did give me a nudge with the purchase! Overall awesome mat!

Good yoga mat for older joints
Thick enough for your knees. Wider than usual so you don’t end up off the mat. So far no slippage issues, but only have used once. A little bulky to roll up if that is a worry for you
