Easy to use, does the job.
Several years ago I picked up a similar style dehydrator for my mom for her birthday and borrowed it to dehydrate a batch of morel mushrooms I had picked up and fell in love with hers. I was thrilled to find this dehydrator with twice as much drying capacity allowing me to replace our cheap round dehydrator that my son has been wrestling with to make up his batches of deer jerky in the fall. I initially ran strawberries and banana’s through to try it out and found it worked extremely well and actually rather quickly. I absolutely love all all of the layers of trays allowing us to knock out our entire jerky process in one round rather than back to back jerky periods over several days. The unit itself runs pretty darn quiet though you do have to be careful as the sides of the unit does get pretty warm. I was absolutely thrilled by the engineering design of the cord storage slot in the back, which allows you to actually plug the cable into the back of the unit for better storage. Using the unit is pretty darn simple as it came with decent directions. I was pretty intrigued by the presets but found that you can use the presets as you’re starting position and alter the temperatures and times after that. I wanted to run my strawberries at 160° for 6 hours and use the Apple preset at 165° for 9 hours. After dialing in the preset I simply use the arrow buttons to alter the time and temperature to the ones I wanted then I pressed start. It locked in my specific time and temperature and held the settings. The one thing that I’m not too thrilled about is the plastic tray inserts as I’m not real fond of using plastic in my cooking. The unit itself appears to be decently made, even better quality than the one I picked up for my mom. All in all, I have absolute no complaints at this time and am absolutely thrilled by the possibilities, especially with the capacity of this unit. Presently priced at $159.99 for the 12 tray dehydrator, I feel this is well within fair market value as other units with less capacity retail for more than this. This I think this is close to what I paid for my mother’s which has only about half this capacity. I’m a fan, especially as it works so much better and is so much easier to use than the cheaper plastic round dehydrators.

Durable, effective, well made.
I’ve been wanting to replace my 25 year old plastic dehydrator for some time now. This one has turned out to be the perfect replacement. It came all ready to plug in. It weights less than I thought it would and it is well made. The shelves and mats are in a separate little box and the instruction manual is easy to follow. The controls are fairly basic, with time, temperature, and start/pause touch buttons along with the presets. The metal trays are easy to clean, as are the silicone mesh mats. I would have loved more than one drip tray because it can be used for things like fruit leather and dehydrating wine infused herbal salts. Though, given that the trays are square and of average size, I’m sure I can procure extra trays fairly easily. The trays slide onto the racks fairly easily but they are a bit loose so you have to be deliberate so as to not misalign them. The dehydrator itself is made out of sturdy materials and I am sure it will last for years.I have been wanting a dehydrator just like this for some time and plan on using it regularly. The 12 shelf capacity makes it worth the money. When I did the initial run I set it outside the kitchen door in case it let off any fumes and I couldn’t even hear it running. I wasn’t sure how warm it would get so I set up a corner with ceramic tile but it turns out that wasn’t necessary. I have several jars of ferments by it and they are not impacted by the slight warmth on the outside. Because of how I set it up in the kitchen I can hear it a little more. For my first run I opted for beets to make beetroot powder, and a banana. The next project will be dried veggies for ramen. I look forward to doing a lot of dehydrating with this machine, the possibilities are endless.

Beautiful Machine, Super Easy to Use. Quiet Operation
This is a really attractive machine. It is also very quiet. I didn’t actually do food yet; you are supposed to run it once with no food before using it. The interface is bright, pretty, and easy to use. It has preset options, but you have complete control over the temperature and timing, which is awesome. The trays are sturdy, but be careful; they are a little sharp.I liked that there is a little place in the back to store the plug. The only thing I have seen so far I am not thrilled about is they only give you half the amount of the plastic sheets for doing herbs. It seems odd they wouldn’t have given you one for each shelf in case you were just doing a batch of herbs.
